THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN..

bluerosy Jul 31, 2005 11:40 AM

I bred my male Peanut Butter into the T- albino Florida king expecting to get double hets. Instead I got these weird lavender looking animals that do not look anything like the Peanut butters and do not have red eys like the T- albino mother. In 10 good eggs I got one normal dark het and the rest ranged in color from light to dark including two very nice purple animals. Any ideas?

This was the first one that shed. I will post pics as soon as they whole clutch sheds.

Pic of the Peanut Butter male and female T- female I took during courtship three months ago:

you should call it a "CHERRY LAVENDER",lol!

bluerosy Jul 31, 2005 02:51 PM

Thanks man. The others in the clucth vary in shades from one end of the spectrum to the other. What is interesting is there is also one "normal" in the clutch.

JETZEN Jul 31, 2005 03:06 PM

NO!,Thank YOU for all the break thru's in herpetoculure that you've achieved, everytime i see something new you've done it make's me proud that i have three of your snakes in my collection.
guess who?

bluerosy Jul 31, 2005 03:58 PM

Awe jeeee.. shucks *blush* thanks for the compliments. Its just nice to be rewarded with lifes little surprises.

I am a firm beleiver that if people would take new w/c blood and breed the offspring back to the mother and father we would see a lot more new morphs. Matter of fact I beleive it would be fairly common. Though this not apply to this situation and that why I think it is so unusual. This was a totally unrelated breeding.

Maybe Muttly will give you one of thse next year.

JETZEN Jul 31, 2005 10:16 PM

if most peanut butters are male, do you think most jellys are females?lol!

tobyingeorgia Jul 31, 2005 11:32 PM

If peanut butters are mostly male and (jellies) are females Well........will that make the offspring PB&J (peanut butter and jellies)????? LOL

Steve_Craig Jul 31, 2005 05:43 PM

I agree Jetzen. I also have one of Rainer's animals. Here's my 04 male NE Axanthic purchased from Brandon Osborne, but is from Rainer (BlueRosy's) stock. Rainer you have some nice animals. No doubt I'm going to have to save up for one of your PB Brooks one day. Very nice

Or do I see a picture of a face on the back of my Axanthic Brooks head? LOL Maybe I'm seeing things.

NOT just you.......lol...looks like a aztec face or sumthin

Pastorpat Jul 31, 2005 06:26 PM

Hmmm....Toby's right!!! It looks evil!!!! Better send it to me so I can do an exorcism!!!!! I can get it back to you, in say, umh, 5 years or so!?!?!?LOL Good lookin' snake--I think I've told you that before!!!

Pat

tobyingeorgia Jul 31, 2005 07:25 PM

LOL Pat....n/p

Steve_Craig Jul 31, 2005 07:55 PM

Since I've got him out right now looking at his head, no doubt we have a Phamtom Menace.
Sure Pat, I'll let you Excercise that demon. Did you say it would take about five years? LOL

Steve

Pat, you are right...sometimes it takes a while to be sure those exorcisms work...can't take any chances you know...Helane

You always get some cool surprises. That PB gene just gets more and more unique. Maybe it's like the ultra hypo gene in corn snakes (hets appear normal unless paired with an albino gene).

Kinglvr Jul 31, 2005 12:46 PM

That snake is incredible! Never seen one so pretty. Can't wait for more pics!

ZFelicien Jul 31, 2005 01:23 PM

Now is that the original PB or one of the hold backs? if it's the original have u bred it back to an offspring as yet? or bred a pair of holdbacks or each other? if so was there any thing different?
if you have yet to do the above... you really need 2.... i'm really supa- dupa curious now!

or try another pairing T-albino male to Het. PB female and see what pops up (unless the PB female will be ready next season???)

the snake posted looks very much like a combination of the two (the lavender look from the PB and the red from the T-) Very Nice... i told u called it Jelly.... so when you breed Peanut Butter morph to the "Jelly" Morph you get a Clutch of Peanut butter and Jelly!

unfortunately with all the B/S in the industry you may have a hard time convincing some that these are PB X T- either way that snake is freake'n awesome... i'll take one off your hands if the load is too heavy (sex not even important!)

The breeding that produced this clutch was from one of the orginal Peanut butters and not a holdback Peanut Butter.

So far here have only been a couple female Peanut Butters produced. So we do not know what this trait will do when breeding Peanut Butter to Peanut Butter yet. Original breeding are from het to het and then male Peanut Butters to female hets.
The breeding from F2 PB to het females has produced some very different looking Peanut Butters.

HA-HA!Actually the name "Jelly" does sound kinda cool when i think about it. After all, these ARE from the "Peanut butter" morph. But I want to raise these up to see what they look like before we jump to any conclusions.

Nokturnel Tom Jul 31, 2005 05:09 PM

That is really something else Rainer. Excellent looking snake. If it works out that the Jelley name is suitable that will really be funny, but cool and memorable. Congrats on another super cool morph Tom Stevens

bluerosy Jul 31, 2005 05:15 PM

The funny thing is there are some dark purple ones which one might refer to as grape elly and red ones that would be strawberry jelly ect... lol!

I will post pics of the entire clutch (10) soon.

ZFelicien Jul 31, 2005 05:18 PM

stop torturing me!!!

That snake is killing me... and i'm sure there are others that look even better. are those bands white... they sure look white

I'm with Jetzen... I'm proud to say i own snakes from your stock... hope to get a couple more this season and even more next season

correction it is supposed to happen because it did, you didn't know it was going to happen! that's pretty cool, let's see some more pics of the rest of the clutch!
well, you say that the pb appears like an albino (t or t- ??)when it hatches then loses the effect as it grows. maybe you're seeing an expression of that now, something in the pb that is compatible with the t- albino but not to exclude all melanin(?...?) (e.g., eyes)
definitely, more pics.
db

p.s. what wasn't supposed to happen was i wasn't supposed to slice open a dead looking collapsed egg that candled as well as a cinder block. inside was a patternless ghost. it moved a little so it was "alive" but it didn't look great. who knows what would've happened...

Ah I see that you have been reading FR's posts and they are rubbing off on you.

Labeling traits is just "man" trying to name things as he did with the animals. What I meant by "this is not supposed to happen" is the traits don't always fit into the little box we created for them.

I will get some pics of the others in the clucth soon.

Pastorpat Jul 31, 2005 05:55 PM

That one is just too cool!!! Wonder what it's going to look like as an adult???? Can't wait to see the whole clutch!!!
