i have three out in my back yard, they hide under my deck, and come out at night to eat. one big fat one and my sis says her two baby's but i say the other two are her mates.it is mating season for them right?these guys eat any thing they can fit into their mouths i saw the female eat a baby green tree frog, and to top that off a tiny house/medeteranian gecko. i live in corpus christi tx,their are thes tiny brown bug that are every were when u turn the light on,i guess june bugs, any way these toad pound the heck out of em every knight.i hope they dont move off somewere else i rather enjoy watching them out eating together. thay are cool toads.i wish i could put them into my breeding project.i have bearded dragons i am going to breed next year.i have already sucsessfully breed leopard gecko's it would be cool to have the toads as pets but they are doing great in the wild.any way who would want these toads for pets?do they sell in the pet market?i mean ive seen plenty of amphibians and anoles that are local here in texas up for sale in pet stores like petco for 5-30 bucks for toads and lizards. any way i guess i was just curious about these toads would it be a bad thing for me to just take them out of their inviorment into capetivity for the purpose of breeding them? any suggestions welcom

Most toads adjust well to captivity given proper caging/husbandry. Last night I collected a pair of baby Bufo boreas from my favorite field herping spot. I've been yearning for a valliceps for quite some time now. From what I've read breeding toads in captivity requires a pretty good deal of space, and maybe a kiddie pool or something. Is it legal to sell species that are native to the state in Texas? I know it's illegal here in California. LOL!
