Noticed they were down today. Anyone know the story? I was out of town most of the weekend and didn't check in.

Just curious.

i think its pretty self explanatory, he said there was too much mud slinging for his taste, which means there was too much fighting on the boards between hobbyists that cant even seem to get along with each other in a friendly environment where people SHOULD be discussing rhac's isntead of arguing over ridiculous things.

Actually there wasn't much mud and certainly no fighting. I was reading the thread that got it shut down and it was just a topic that hit hot spots with those who run the forum. It was a pretty peaceful conversation but it brought up certain aspects of herp keeping/breeding that a lot of people don't like to swallow.

you know, i question the whole motivation behind closing the board. within the last two weeks, the 'chat' function was being discussed as a potential upcoming addition to the board and suddenly it's closed indefinitely????

if there were members that were causing issues, allen could have posted a warning to everyone. he could have taken up the issue with the individuals via PM. he could have chosen to ban the individuals and their IPs.

i will say that i was reading/posting to the board on a regular basis and I really didn't see anything that was worthy of causing this "time out." what i did see is several people question WHY posts were being deleted, especially when they contained NO offensive comments.

maybe allen didn't like people questioning him? maybe he just didn't have time for it? maybe he just doesn't care? hell, he's not even selling his own geckos anymore - he's subcontracted that ...

first, i didn't at any point claim to know anything specific, i threw up some hypotheses based on what i had seen on the board.

second, when NO explanation is given, of course people will hazard a guess.

third, since you seem to be so knowledgeable as to what actually happened, why don't you fill the rest of us in, rather than contribute to the 'mud slinging' that was supposed to have occurred?

...the people who are forum "regulars", probably know. So I can't see where the you or the general public is owed some official detailed reply other than what Allen has already stated and Anthony's written here.

It’s a dead issue, its past, and the tedious speculation is a lot more drama than it warrants.

I wanted to write this regarding my previous post re: Allen's forum being closed.

First, let me state that I have a great deal respect Allen as regards to his knowledge and experience in breeding crested geckos. At no point did I intend to slander him in any way, though I'm not guessing that is very apparent from my post.

Second, I'd like to apologize to Allen as well as the members here for my post. I have a bad tendency to run off at the mouth now and again and this is a prime example. The allegations I made were uninformed and unwarranted. Allen ran a great board and it will obviously be missed while it was gone.

Third, for the sake of the other members here, I would like to ask that if anyone has any additional concerns with my previous post, please contact me via personal messege here. I will be more than happy to address any other concerns in a civilized manner over PM.
