jimfmcdonald Jul 31, 2005 04:39 PM

a few of my ball pythons have started to get patches of what looks like dry skin on there heads. does this look like a problem or do I need to raise or lower my temps or humidity?

rack set up.
temps, 82 to 95.
on paper towels with a water bowl.

thanks.

It's basically from them rubbing their scales away. Some people say if your temps are not ideal this happens. Your hot spot may be a bit too warm. Adjust your temps downward and see what happens. It's nothing to be overly concerned with... it just looks ugly.

one of my bps has a scar on the top of his head(from burrowing under astroturf) that looks like that but thats not a big deal, what im worried about is a drey spot on the others back that looks like it faded the color, is that a burn?

no burns! and the other marks on the heads have never been there before on any of my snake that I have had for years and they dont seem to be rubbing there heads on anything. and I have had about 4 or 5 snake that have just started showing this dry skin look on top of there heads.
