3 prong thermostats...

throatoyster Jul 31, 2005 07:28 PM

Are there any less expensive thermostats out there that can handle a 3 prong plug? My heat cable is has a 3 prong plug, and none of the thermostats really say if they're only 2 prong or 3. I only need something simple... nothing too fancy.
Thanks,
Will

If in the US, heat mats/cable with three prongs are able to be used in wet or hazardous areas. If you aren't using it in a wet or hazardous area, you don't have to use three prongs. Use a 3-to-2 prong adapter on the heater. Then it doesn't matter what controller you use.

On the other hand, if using the device outside, use all three prongs.
