I hear that happening all the time...."My female is actually a male."
You never here of a male actually being a female, because it is obvious when a male is a male.......
When my offspring hatch I "pop" them immediately....The males are 100% obvious. The females are not so obvious and actually cannot be "popped" so I put them aside and try and pop them a few more times....If no hemipenes are exposed after a few tries it is marked female....If I am not for certain (which I am all the time) I probe the so called females to make sure. 99.9% of the time they ARE females.....
Now I have popped them initially females and a couple days later they expose a hemipene when I re-pop them...And that is why they get re-popped....
I have yet to sell mis-gendered snake....I hope not....LOL
