Well, lots of us here use mealworms as a staple diet but also offer crickets as treats. I would say that I feed mealies 75% of the time, and then crickets another 15% and waxies another 10%. You can create your own mealworm gutload out of items found at your grocery store. This is what I use:
dry baby rice cereal
dry baby barley cereal
dry oatmeal
powdered milk
wheat germ
Miner-all
If you have a Petco nearby or some other petstore they will often offer mealworms. If you are only going to buy one or two leos then it really isn't practical to order them and have them shipped since they are so widely available at petstores.

I feed both mealworms and crix to my leos just to give them a little variety. The bigger leos get superworms as well but not as staple just a treat along with waxworms.

I try to offer my gecko as much variety as possible. I feed:
74% SUPERWORMS(her favorate, eats 4 or 5 a day)
5% PINKIES (twice a month)
5% WAXWORMS (weirdly enough, doesnt like these much)
5% MEALIES (likes to take them from my hand)
5% SILKWORMS (loves these, but to expensive)
5% CRIX (i hate these, sometimes I feed them for a treat)
1% WAX WORM MOTHS (she likes to chase them)
Hope this helps
Mac
