Overly agressive male

Lizarddude720 Aug 01, 2005 01:00 AM

HI

I have a male dragon who is 1 and he is ready to breed but his mate isnt. I cant put her any where near the tank and im afraid to put her in it. Is this just to do with breeding season, if so when dose it end and what do i do if he keeps acting like the way he dose. My female is 16 inches and is a year old also he is only 2 inches larger and has a little more girth. What would happen to the femal is i left him and her breed. COuld someting happen to her for being pregnant for the first time or for her size?

Please Help,
Big P

A 12 month old female is too young to breed. She should be at least 15 months old. Also, with the male being very aggressive and larger than the female, he can seriously injure her in his breeding attempts. Keep them separated and out of sight of one another for at least another 3-4 months. Even then, unless you are ready to take care of 50 babies and find them good homes (not to mention the money needed to buy cages, lights, suppliments, food etc. to care for the babies) you shouldn't breed them at all.

The male's aggression should fade away in time, especially if he is separated from the female completely for several months.
