Using a 20 gal size cage and providing a 85-90 deg hot spot with a bulb, here is what I measured for a Sinaloan (very close to nelsoni):
Minimum temp at mid-body: 75 deg
Maximum temp at mid-body: 83 deg
Most of the time the snake was at 80-81 deg range. As you can see, the snake didn't like to get too warm (at least when I measured. There may have been moments where the snake did bask and get warmer.)
The snake liked to stay in that range. I couldn't provide cooler temps than 75 deg, so I don't know if the snake would have used cooler temps too. For brumation, 55-60 deg is a good range.
