RED iguanas?

reamk924 Aug 01, 2005 12:54 PM

Has anybody seen an adult red iguana before? I thought about getting one, but what actually makes them red?

Never heard of it. Sounds like a fluke. Some may have more reddish coloring, but honestly, I never heard of such a thing.

Iguanas have not been bred to the extent that new color morphs have emerged, nor are there that many differences in coloring in the Iguana Iguana specie.

Though some wild adults may have some reddish coloring, especially during mating season, I doubt there are fully red animals, for sale especially.

Buyer beware.

Well darn! That picture u got is better than the one I found! hehehe...

~$200 for an iguana is a lot of dough, but if you got it, and if you want it, more power to you. With the money saved on a regular iguana you can get some good stuff for building/adorning the enclosure.

I wish others here would have replied to give you another opinion, but hey...

If u do go ahead with it, send us pictures soon!

If you look on their same website they have a photo of an adult breeding pair of iguanas for sale. The red colour of the male in that photo is 'breeding colours' and probably is what the little one will look like when it gets older maybe?
Just a thought...*smiles*.
