Hogg Island Health

rockabilly Aug 01, 2005 03:04 PM

Hi. First time poster. Hope I'm in the right place.

Can anyone help me? I recently bought a very young Hogg Island.
Lately her tip of her nose is growing abnormally bulbous. As if fluid or something was building up inside. I thought I saw a little liquid running from her nose and one nostril looked almost bruised.

Now her environment is pretty standard and she eats and acts normally. She shares a cage with another redtail and that snake has no problems. She does have a birth defect (?) leaving her with a turned up lip (looks like a snarl). I don't know if that is a contributing factor in this problem.

Does anyone know what this is or where I could find out? I would certainly appreciate the help. Thank you. -Bill!

First off, welcome to the forum, it's a great place & we're glad to have you here.
Next, please seperate the cagemates & house all snakes seperately. The problem you're talking about could be an injury from the other snake. Snakes don't make good cagemates for each other.
Last, I'd advise a trip to the vet for the problem as it could be any great number of things & it's best to get whatever it is treated & diagnosed early.

Thank you kindly. I appreciate your help and will of course take your advise and seperate the two and pay a visit to the vet. Thank you again. -Bill!
