Leopard Tortoise

jblais Aug 01, 2005 03:22 PM

I adopted a leopard tortoise and am well aware of the size they obtain. I have two full grown burms, full grown iguanas and such. Here's my question. I have read up on how to raise them and where they come from. At this point, he, Otis, is still small enough to keep in a 55 gallon aquarium, seeing that when I am home he is out of it. In the mean time, I know it is probably best to use grass hay as a substrate and feed him grass and succulents along with other things. Where is the easist place to find enough for him. Can you buy bales of grass hay, and if so where? I am in Seattle, Washington. Where can I find the most abundant amount of food for him? He eats a ton, and I grow alot of his food, but can I buy bales of grass or hay for him and then supplement his diet with everything else. I'll take any ideas. Thank you.
Justin

oxbowhay.com sells hay--I buy mine from the petstore

Hay can be bought a lot of places, drive into the country and hit up a farm. I can get some sweet orchard grass by taking my weed wacker getting permission from owner of the orchard and get a bunch of fresh grass. Or purchase from oxbowhay.com or petsmart, petco, many places..
