What does hypo mean?

gavinclews Aug 01, 2005 04:30 PM

I have 30 eggs which i have got from someone else and they are nearly all hatched now. They are showing some great colours straight from the egg but the person i got them off said they are hypo reds and hypo snows. Someone has asked me what hypo means and so i need someone to tell me so i can tell them. Also, i dont want to sell them as that if they are not and so can anyone explain how to name a certain type of morph and how you know what they are
Thanx, gav

Hypo means less. Hypomelanistic means less melanin resulting in a very lightly colored or faded animal. The opposite is hyper. Hypermelanistic would mean very dark or lots of melanin.
