How about a few suggestions....

Antegy Aug 01, 2005 08:53 PM

Hi all,

I've been pursuaded to give my pets names - which I have held, until now, to be an inappropriate form of anthropomorphism. So, if you would like, please visit my site and make a suggestion for my burm. I have a couple of pics up there (which you may recognize), and a place to make suggestions under a link at the top of the main page called "Pet Names".

Find my site here: www.antegy.com

Please check it out if you have a free minute and make a suggestion, as I'd love to hear some creative ideas.

Thanks very much,
- Mark

Hello Mark!

First I want to say that I enjoyed your photos, you have a very nice collection and it's obvious you take wonderful care of your snakes. I love the looks of your burmese! (and you are one smokin' looking male yourself! Don't get me in trouble with your g/f)

ANYWAYS, I name all of my snakes... I don't have a burmese (just could not handle their size and the amount of food!) but I always check out this forum. Here are some name ideas...
This may be corny, but have you ever seen the Labyrinth Movie with David Bowie? Some names from there:
Jareth (Bowie's character, Jareth the Goblin King)
Didymus (pronounced Diddy-muss)
Ludo

Or back to mythology..
the creater of the Labyrinth was Daedalus
King Minos sentanced the 7 men and 7 women to the labyrinth
and yes it was Theseus who slew the minitaur.

My snakes are named usually after their looks. I find I like to use food and gemstones as names. (My GTPs are names Malachite and Jade) One of my boas is Vegas since that's where I got her. Well good luck on choosing the perfect name. The nice thing about snakes.. if you want to change it later you can, they don't care.

(boas are big enough, but burms sure look nice!)
This is Autumn, named so because some of her tail saddles reminded me of falling red autumn leaves

I have a granite burm, and while I always name my animals, this one will be with me for the duration of its life and I would like to spend some time thinking of a meaningful name. If anyone could help me with something related to the word granite, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Hey firefighter2598,
sorry I didn't see your post right away.

Granite, hmmm.. that's a tougher one..
So far all I have come up with:

Mica
Feldspar
Quartz
Mafic - dark minerals in granite
Names of Mafic types: Biotite, Hornblende, Pyroxene
Shoal
types of granite: Llano, Rapakivi, Diamond Pearl

there is also this website I found that has tons of commercial names for granite types.. maybe you'll find something there..
www.worldstonex.com/en/GraniteTypes.asp

Hope that gives you some ideas.. sorry it was all I could come up with!
