Since you have bred them, maybe you could tell me if this banding is genetic? I am quite fond of it really, and would be quite thrilled if I could proliferate it through future generations.
Thank you very much

I am a little confused over your question. Any and all colors and patterns of monitors are genetic. The question should be, is it a dominate/recessive, a local type, a different species, etc.
To those questions, there is no good answers, I picked out two that looked alike, they could be local types(way my hope) or a color morph, a possibility.
I actually killed the eggs full/near full term(I was new and dumb)(several clutches too) the embryos, were more banded then the parents, but that is to be expected, as most monitors disperse their pattern as they grow anyway. Good luck and let me know if you find more, I would not mine a pair too, FR
Hi,
One of the best ways to find out where your banded V. indicus comes from is to go to a Academy of Sciences (S.F.) and look at their V. indicus specimens there - when you find one that matches your animal, then you know where it might come from. This is time consuming, but fun to do - you never know what you will find - and anyone can do this. You do not need to be a scholar, Ph.D., M.S., academia ....

I will definitely have to check out that facility. I had no idea it existed. How brilliant.
