new changes to outdoor enclosure...

BIGTANK Aug 02, 2005 12:10 PM

I use big size gravel instead of sand, because sand was making water very hard and damage the water pump... also it was a headache to clean the pond with a lot of sand in it... and when it rains drops push sand into the pond....

also I think it looks beter, the sand make it look like desert... and the gravel can be washed with the garden hose with out taking it away...

hope you like it, tell me what you guys think...

That is a cool setup. I just switched from small stones to sand and I am starting to see the sand in my water. I haven't noticed any problems with the pump yet but I am sure it is going to happen.

chris: I really hope my dwarf to be happy, because as you can see in the other pic, he very agresive (as its suposed to be)

rene: in the begining I thougth sand ws a good idea, but after some weeks with rain and the caiman geting in and out, I realise it was a lot of work to use sand as substrate...

its easier with the gravel....

best wishes

Rick
