Cage Size suitable for two 1 year old jcps

CaliGotPythons Aug 02, 2005 01:21 PM

me my uncle and my brother have built a cage for our 2 jcps they are male and female. the cage is 5 feet 6 in long x 3 feet deep x 4 feet tall. instead of building a bigger cage for once they grew up we were just gonna section it off for now till there full grown. our snakes right now are a little over 1 year old and the male is about 3 ft 8 in and the female is about 4 ft 5 in.

Seems about right, but they may need more room when they get bigger. Of all my snakes, my JCP will use the most space. I have snakes that seem to have their favorite parts of a cage but my JCP uses every inch, whether hiding, hunting, or basking, so I am of the mind that the bigger the better. Some snakes like a tighter enclosure but my JCP seems to love the space. Individual snakes differ but she's over 8ft now and I have her in a 4'x4'x2.5 and I am going to have to get a bigger one. She is just under four years old and is still shedding every five weeks. They can get big so keep that in mind. But for the age it sounds perfect, good luck, Eric-
