Can I house my Honduran Milks Together?

RalphSnakeMan Jul 16, 2003 03:39 PM

Hello all,
I am a newbie to this forum but it looks like a great place to hang out! You will probably see me around here often. My question is: I just bought two hatchling Honduran Milk Snakes (Male and Female) and I was wondeirng if I could house them together in the same Terrarium? I have a relatively large terrarium setup for them (36Lx16Wx10H) and was just wondering if they could be housed together or if they need to be seperated. I was under the impression that they could be housed together but I just want to make sure before I go ahead and do it.

Thank you very much,
Ralph

Yes you can if they are adults of close to the same size and well fed. You will however have to remove them for feeding as feeding in the cage can cause them to grab each other. The stories you hear about one eating another can easily be avoided as long as you don't skimp on the feedings and you feed them seperate and out of the tank. I personally have kept numerous milks and kings together with no problems ever and to give you another example of someone who keeps them together check Applegates site. He's been doing it for a long time as well and not had any problems either.

Amen! I do it all the time with Campbells, Sinaloans, and Hondos. Just make sure size is compatible and of course feed separately. You separate for the cooling period or if you have room to spare, then do it.
