I just got some feeders from Big Cheese and was very pleased with both their prices and the size of their feeders. They also vacuum seal the packages.

I agree Big Cheese Rodent Factory is the only way to go...
Chad is great to do business with as well....

Thanks guys. I was comparing prices and Rodentpro was cheaper, and shipping was cheaper. In your opinions what are the pros and cons. I have bought from several others and they were always more expensive. I am now using Rodentpro and I have never had any problems, as a matter of fact the orders always arrive early. I was just wondering if there was anybody else that was the same price or even cheaper. Thats all.

My past experience has taught me that some rodent breeders (I won't bad rap anyone.) don't produce all of their own rodents. Some of them in fact will fill orders with rodents that have been bred at someone else's facility. The trouble with that is that you don't know what the other breeder feeds their stock or how they kill them, ship, freeze, etc. You CAN run into alot of trouble buying rodents that way. It's best to buy them from a reputable breder how you can trust to give you the best product for your buck. NEVER cut corners when it comes to feeding your collection. I've known someone who had a problem, what we figured the problem was that the mice had thawed and then were refrozen. The snakes all got sick. I, as well as another fairly large breeder that I know use Big Cheese exclusively when we order mice. I hope this helps.

I used Big Cheese and Rodent Pro. Big Cheese was ok, but Rodent Pro had bigger, healthy mice without feces in the packaging. Ive never been to either facility so I cannot say who has healthier mice, I can just post my experience with both companies. Also, the prices and shipping are better with RP, you can see pics on their site too.

Chad at Big Cheese gives nicer discounts for large orders.
Also....The orders arrive a day early from them as well.

I believe Chad makes better quantity deals than Rodentpro...
I order around 800 assorted mice at a time and get a quote from both Big Cheese and Rodentpro and Big Cheese is always cheaper.
Plus...They have a good, clean product and pack them very professional.....

Good God John, 800 rodents? And I thought I was really doing something with my 150 mice I just ordered from Big Cheese, LOL

Steve

For the 800 rodents (mice & rats of different sizes) I paid $220 shipped with Big Cheese.
Rodent Pro's price without shipping exceeded my shipped price from Big Cheese......

Oh yeah...The reason for the big order is....I have around 100 snakes now....Man these things are addicting.

How close is Rodent Pro to where you live?
Is Big Cheese farther away from your location?

If so that explains a lot.
I live in the same state as Big Cheese (TX). I think Rodent Pro, probably has a top notch business but it depends on your location I guess....

Big Cheese. I've tried many others but BC is the best.
Two years ago there was a blackout in the NYC area. My shipment arrived 4 days later, instead of 2 days. Every rodent was frozen stiff and glassy eyed.
Cost? What do you think a breeder spends on rodent food, bedding, and labor ? Buy cheap and you get what you pay for.

If you have two reputable companies, than would'nt you go with the cheaper one. Its called buying smart.

mingdurga Aug 04, 2005 09:50 AM

Nice to hear good things about Rodent Pro. Placed an order with them less than 3 years ago (adult mice, small rats) and it arrived with the bags broken apart, de-capitated mice, and all totally de-frosted.

They offered to replace animals, but I let it slide. The testimonials seem to indicate they took corrective measures, but I'm happy with current source.

Steve_Craig Aug 04, 2005 07:04 PM

and you can't go wrong with either Rodent Pro or Big Cheese. I see many people recommend either one of these companies, so pick which ever is good for you. Big Cheese does Vacume pack, and I've found I can get an order usually faster then when I've used Rodent pro. But then again the moral of that story is don't wait till your down to the last few rodents, LOL

I have purchased from many Mice and Rat breeders and have found that Rodent Pro is great. I have been getting my feeders from them for the last 3 years, and knock on wood no problems. I always take avantage of the specials. I have compared prices many times and Rodent Pro is always a better price. I used to raise my own feeders and I am not able now and it sure is great to pay someone else to do the work. I know they do not vacuum pack their product, but since I have been using them they have always used heavy duty freezer bags. I always get as much or the air out of the bag when I use them. The other breeders do vacuum pack and that is okay, but what happens when you open a bag?. I have not had a problem at all with the way RodentPro bags their product. I was wondering if anybody else had the same price for the same quality of product. When I retire in 4 years I will be raising my own feeders again.

Take care
Tom

"The other breeders do vacuum pack and that is okay, but what happens when you open a bag?. I have not had a problem at all with the way RodentPro bags their product"

You are correct. As soon as you open the vacume packed bag, then there goes any advantage that the sealed bag gave you. BUT, what happens if you still have about two weeks worth of rodents in the freezer? Or even three weeks left before you deplete your old supply. That's where the vacume sealed pack would be a huge advantage. I think for some folks the vacume sealed would be an advantage, and for others would make little to no difference at all. Both are top notch companies.
