gecko temper

my juvi has a temper....i put my hand in his cage and try to pick him up and he pushes my hand towards his mouth and really quickly tries to bite me and then goes "NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"...in fact, i named him "Nee" ..but is there any way to stop him, or should i just be persistant? thanks

How long have you had him/here? Usually they make that sound when they are upset or feel like they are being threatend. Usually juives also dot like to be played and held a lot also. You might just want to take some time for him to get use to you if it is a newer leo. You dont want to stress him/her out.

babies and juvies do this quite often it is a defense mechanism. Also very funny. They don't like being bothered alot when small. Just be gentle and persistent with daily short contact.
