METALLICSILVER01 Aug 02, 2005 11:59 PM

hey....i just purchased a group of leopard geckos on July 21 and they have yet to be shipped. the seller keeps postponing the shipping day saying that it's to hot. it is suppose to be overnight shipping to my door....i'm starting to get a bit edgy....i live in southern california and the seller lives in west virginia.....so do you guys think that this is normal and that i should be more patient or what? thanks

Just go to weather.com and look up the weather for your area and the shipper's area. You also need to check the major shipping hubs (one for sure for UPS is Louisville, KY. If the temps are above 95 degrees for the high in any of the places, I wouldn't ship. I imagine the shipper is doing what they feel is best for the health of the gecko. If the temps are in the 80's, and they won't ship to you, I would worry. Anything in the 80's should be safe.

By the way, I've been waiting for a gecko for 3 weeks now...and will be waiting longer because the weather refuses to let up. So long as you trust the shipper, and you keep an eye on the weather, then there shouldn't be an issue. Many areas across the nation have been under a bad heat wave. It just kinda goes with the territory that there could be weather delays in the summer due to heat.

Patience is a virtue.
Especially in the Heat.

Hey, I live in Louisville,Ky and it is very hot here. Our day temps are in the 90s with heat indexes over 100. It's getting down into the 80s at night, but jumps quickly after sunrise. Were supposed to be getting some rain hopefully Thur.(4) or on Friday and this may help if it gets cool enough. Good luck and hope your leos arrive safe and sound.
