Help with Hatchlings Feedings

palex134 Aug 03, 2005 09:27 AM

I have been feeding them pinhead crix and none get eaten. I count them each day and since the 27th none have been eaten. I have been hand feeding a mix of CGD and baby food as if I just put it out it goes to waste. What should I do? If i continue to handfeed will they turn into adults that only eat from your hands and no crickets or not from a bowl?

Thanks

Its, Ok!! My cresteds only will eat baby food until about a month old, then they will start eating crickets!!(unless they are the brave ones who eat crickets out of the egg!)

Also, Did you say that they hatched on the 27th?? If so give them some time, They will eat soon. They still have the egg yoke in-side them and thats what is keeping them going!!

Also when you feed them make sure that there is just a thin layer of baby food in the "feeding dish" and then you can see if they lick it up or not.

Thanks Erik

That was sound advice from Erik. Wanted to add one thing. When my babies were that size, they wouldn't look twice at a pinhead. They were already going for 1/4 - 1/2" size crix.
