well Gobi had blood in her feces today, it was stinky and just plain yuk..... this is really out of the blue as she has been eating well, with good looking stools (as good as poop can look, occasionally loose but thats normal when eating a lot of silkworms) and gaining weight, poor girl, so everyone is off tomorrow for fecal exams and check-ups, everyone elses fecals look real good and together but.........sigh........i see rubbermaid bins and sudsy ammonia in my future............

my female is just so sleepy all the time. i think i would like to get a fecal exam done. i was wondering...

how much does it cost?

do i save some of her poop?

what can the test show?

it can cost depending on your vet anywhere from 10-30 dollars for a fecal. Then if you do find parasites youll have to have the dragon examined and then prescribed meds. The examination can range depending on your vet, but approx 35 dollars, and then the cost of meds. Usually a vet will not prescribe meds without an exam, its the law here in CA but it may vary state to state.

yes youll have to get it and take it to the vet,the fresher the sample the better, if you cant get there for a couple hours or she goes at night and dont know if you will get another in the morning, take the feces and put it between a peice of well dampened papertowel, into a baggie and into the fridge.

can i take her to any vet or does it have to be reptile/herp specific? i looked in my phone-book and none look to be reptile specific.

i reccomend taking her to a herp vet, not a regular vet, many times they dont know how to treat reptiles and you dont want to risk it. I beleive any vet should be able to do the fecal for you, but a reptile vet will have to prescribe and treat your dragon... where are you located?

she is otherwise doing great, i think we are looking at parasites, shes basking, eating and doing all the things that Gobi does so i think shes gonna be fine, just gotta get her checked and treated. The other two have fine looking fecals but ill get them checked also, never know....might as well get the bunch done now. Ill let ya know, thanks for your concern
