Sort of. I once modified a stereo cabinet into a gecko cage of some sort. Those hinges were already installed.

I had some issues making a cricket-proof seal around the edges. I would not use those if building from scratch, but would use them if doing a similar modification as the one I already mentioned.

It is for adult dragons that eat only the pellets - so I am not too concerned on the cricket issues..however i am torn between the track or the hinges.

I have some visions and find the track to be a pain with sand or other substrates. also - removing the glass is a bit of a pain.

Sliding doors on Visions are set up a bit differently. DIY sliding doors are different. My Bearded Dragon is in a homemade cage with sliding doors and I would not consider anything else. I pull the glass out all the time for cleaning.

Simply build a tall substrate dam to attach the glass track to. Then pile up a bunch of thick/large rocks behind this substrate dam so sand cannot be kicked into the track.

Regarding your Visions, I helped a friend of mine modify his Visions for similar issues. He put in a substrate dam behind the entire door system that stuck a couple of inches above the track.

We also sprayed silicone lubricant into the track and buffed it with a towel. Or maybe it was Teflon spray. I have heard of both being used.

They do work much better this way.

Ill give the sliders a shot. I ordered a 4ft length from Rockler today.

Once the track is in, how much less do i cut the glass to allow the best range of motion?

thanks chris

The track will come with directions. I believe it's 7/16" less than the rough opening of the door, before the track.

How tall of a substrate dam are you going to provide? Mine is 5" and I have no trouble. However, I did switch from sand to a bran substrate due to some constipation issues with my dragon.

I have a 5" dam and a 3" top dam (to hide the lights)...the cage is 22.5" high (inside) so my remaining space is 14.5.

For the a lock to work, how much overlap does the glass need?

I don't use a lock. I think they are designed to work with varying amounts of overlap, but it probably depends on the lock. Better check with whatever product you choose.
