One wont eat

CokeOfMan Aug 03, 2005 03:35 PM

Well, 9 days ago I got my pair of Knight Anoles.
Anyway, one is eating, but the otherone isn't and the interesting thing is that the one who isn't eating is bigger(they're both quite small; 9-10" incl tail) and has a bigger head in proportion to the body, so if I can tell at all at this size, that would be the male(the Petstore specifically ordered in a male and female, so I hope it's correct).
There has been no real territorial fights, except my sister said she saw one chasing the other on the first day.
The bigger one almost only uses one branch, while the other one roams more around the cage.

Is there such a thing as dominant female in anoles?
Sounds wierd, I know, but it's only the smaller one who has shown it's dewlap while I'm around, but it is also the one who sometimes turns slightly browner when I'm in the cage.

Well, I guess what I'm wondering is if anyone has any tips?
I'll recheck the temperatures tomorrow, but they are otherwise around 30-38C on the 3 basking branches.

I know it often takes animals some time to start eating, and luckily one is very fast on the food(I feed with tweezers/tonges).

Thanks In Advance

Female Anoles will set up a pecking order of dominance. They are not quite as violent as the males, but there are still some disputes.

So you're saying they may both be female?
