Shedding question...

Drakken Aug 03, 2005 03:47 PM

My beardie is about 3.5 inches long with about another 3 inches of tail. He is shedding for the first time since I got him.

The shed is coming off a little bit at a time. Is this normal?

The reason I ask is that I have a gecko and when he sheds it's all at once. With geckos partial shedding is not good. Is this different with beardies?

Thanks!

I bathe my beardie once a day. He poops in the water, swims a bit, and I find that it helps with shedding. I read in several places where even spraying them with water helps them shed.
They really look rough when they're shedding in patches, but it's what they do!

Yeah, I mist everyday and give him a bath once a week. I just wanted to be sure I am doing things right.

Thanks for the responses!

I've been told to watch a baby's tail when it sheds since sometimes they don't get the tip. My baby's in its second shed since it hatched and I just had to get the tip of its tail since it missed that part but maybe I'm just over protective and wanted to make sure that it didn't lose the tip of its tail. My adults shed in pieces too and I've also been told that it can take up to two months for an adult to completely shed so don't worry. I have geckos too and I got them before my beardies so I know what you're going through since I didn't know how they shed when I got my beardies.
