Regal ringneck eating ribbon snake: Nice belly photos:

Oxyrhopus Aug 03, 2005 04:14 PM

I finally decided to try a live vs defrosted snake for the regal. The ribbon was longer than the regal, so the regal contorted its body several times to adjust and fit the ribbon down and I was able to get these belly photos during the feeding event. Sorry the pics are not so clear as I had to take them through the plastic.

Always telling me I should feed the regals small meals and you go feed yours snakes bigger than the regal itself. Hypocrite lol.

Is that blueish color the actual color of the snake itself? Or was the color messed up due to shooting through the enclosure? If that's her real color she'll make some killer babies with that male of yours. I wish I would've got her, my female is just a regular old grayish color, boring.

So how long did it take for the venom to work? I have found it starts to work quicker in Thamnophis than say, Storeria, because the garters/ribbons use up alot more energy and move more, making the venom travel quicker.

Nice shots.

I did not catch the beginning so I do not know how long it took to subdue the ribbon, however the one you mentioned to feed smaller snakes was because yours barfed and its better to go smaller after a barf. That is her color from what I can tell but my eyes are not as good as they used to be.

.....while I gotta tip my hat to Dan-mans husbandry & diversity..Im not so sure of his camera (nor data collection) skills...hey everyones got their weak pts.... eh...
I have seen Dn has a tendency to suffuse blue into the shots & that regal is bluer than in life.

Saludos a todas personas la fora or something there-like!
