feeding guppies

i know its not needed but ive heard that feeding monitors fish can give them parisites. so my question is is it safe to feed them fish?

I heard that goldfish are the nastiest things you can feed. I don't know if guppies are as bad as goldfish.

a friend of mine has quite a few garter and water snake pairs and also keeps a baby nile at the moment.instead of overpaying for fish at the petshop he gos to the local bait store and buys minnows.none of his animals have ever gooten sick or gotten parasites before.just thought id add this.
