Piebald with twisted neck please help!!

msalem Aug 03, 2005 06:50 PM

The third piebald just hatched out of the egg but it's neck is all twisted! I cut the egg thinking that it just needed the room to uncurl but it didn't help. Please if you can offer any advise I would really appreciate it. I had a total of 5 eggs (3 piebalds and 2 66%) and other 4 have no problems and appear healthy. Below is a picture of the first 4 siblings and the other 2 pics are of the piebald with the twisted neck.

Thank you for all of your help in advance,
Mohamed

Thats a shame.
You may have to put it down.

The other pieds are sweet looking though.

It appears to have some other bad kinks too.

It doesn't look good.

Sorry about that.

I'm sorry to see your loss. I am calling it a loss only because of the slim chance that this snake will have to survive. I have had 2 clutches that had kinks and deformities, that i believe were due to dramatic tempature fluctuations. Even if this snake does survive you need to determine if it is better to allow the snake to live in possible pain, or put it down. Its a tough decision that i do not envy.

Best of luck.

That's a temp fluctuation problem. Did the eggs get too hot?? Looks like it. I think you will have to follow Corys advice and freeze it. Sorry bout that.

I would like to thank all of you have posted responses and have sent me emails. I know that there is a slim to none chance that this little guy will make it but I just did not want to rush without getting some advice. I am taking him/her to the vet tomorrow as a last chance before proceeding with the freezer advice.

Thank you all again for your support,
Mohamed Salem

looks dead to me in the one pic

if it lives...if it eats..looks like you got yourself a pet...

..good luck........

if it's too bad and can't even act half normal......kill it.

yea.I know.killing a $10 corn is easy.....pieds are another story....

I just got the first kinked ball today from hundreds of babies.......(*actually I have had little kinked or curled tails at a few times....).(but this was a neck kink)....

good luck
