When (or should I ) cut the rest ?

toshamc Aug 03, 2005 07:31 PM

OK day 56 is coming to a close the two that pipped this morning are working their way out - they are taking their sweet time but oh well - whattayagonnado - now what about the rest - the other six aren't showing any signs of life - should I just wait to see what happens or is there a point where I start to worry and cut them? Originally I figured I'd wait til 60 days but now I'm confused. This is by far the most stressful day of them all (LOL).

Oh yeah - the two that pipped this morning were the two that were closest to the heat tape so thatcouldhave something to do with it too.

Any suggetions or advice -

Thanks.

They don't always pip at the same time.

I've had clutches were some piped one day and the rest the in the next day or two.

Also they hang out in their eggs for about a day, you said they pipped this AM, so they will probably be out tommorow morning waiting for you.

That's kinda what I was still figuring on doing - but when I did a search on the forum it seems like people were cutting eggs after the first pipped so then I got confused (LOL).

Basically they were at 89 - tho I did have a couple of days where our electricity went out (Thanks SCE-LOL) the temps dropped a bit but never much below 87 (the eggs were still at 89 - mom and some strategically placed heat packs did a pretty good job).

The first two are finally out and I separated them - I have three more heads coming out of their eggs this morning - and they do seem to be pipping by order of how close they were to the heat tape - maybe just coincidence???

Sadly the BP gods must not like me - I'm not seeing any pastels - but I am seeing some intersting heads - maybe I have a new morph (LOL - not).

Some people pip after the first one pips. I don't. I really don't worry. All of mine pip by the 60 day point. And from the first to the last can be 4-5 days. Don't sweat the small stuff. At 61 days, feel free to cut the rest. But I'm sure by then you won't have to. I hope you get a pastel though.
