bmac217 Aug 03, 2005 07:59 PM

i'm in the process of constructing a 10 gallon tank false bottom and i was wondering what pumps work the best for small tanks. i've been told powerheads work well, but i didn't know what specific models work best or how powerful it should be. thanks in advance

I worked for aquarium systems which is now Marineland for over a year and the pumps that they make hold up very well. All the pumps that they make can run dry and not burn up. The mini jet units work great for false bottom tank applications. They dont have large 3 prong cords. The micro jet is a small unit that they make as well but it has a 3 prong cord.

I am trying to make a small waterfall w/o a lot of splashing and most of the pumps that I found put out too much water. Are the penguin power heads any better?

NO the penguin pumps wouldnt work for what you are trying to do. The mini jet has a control valve on it to control the amount of water you need
