Nice odds...for once!

Rich_Crowley Aug 03, 2005 09:35 PM

Well, in 2000 I bought a pair of 1999 hatched het albinos and slowly raised them up. They were the worst feeders, but came around finally by 2003 with some decent size.

So I bred the hetxhet albinos in 2003 and got 7 "possible hets" and no albinos. Were they really the right hets? Did something go wrong? Many more questions and doubts, but I kept trying...

2004 was a bust with no eggs....too warm and no cycling...

2005 bred hetxhet... 0.2 albinos! and 1.3 66% hets BUT
I bred dad to one of his daughters and got 3 albinos and 2 66% hets!

Five albinos and just a pinch of left over patience. So for anyone else out there frustrated with bad odds...hang in there.

Congrats on the nice odds finally Rich, we did the same this year from a 100% het male to a poss. het female, 7 eggs, and all normals, now hopefully we can prove them out in the future now that we have a little male albino on the way.
