Nothing against anybody else, but those are the best colors I have seen in a baird. I hope Sugaree gets half the colors yours is showing.

I, of course, think I have some exceptional bairdis but I will have to go along with you on this one. That is the most spectacular bairdi I have seen.

Thanks for all the compliments, folks..........Now let me tell you how I came by this handsome devil. Back in '99, I was shopping for herps at the National Breeders Expo(the last year when it was in Orlando, FL). I had pretty much spent all of my money, and I happened across a guy named Rick Elfvin, who had a table there. He was getting out of colubrids to concentrate on Ball Pythons, and had several bairdi hatchlings, as well as the parents which were also up for sale. Now I hadn't really seen a lot of bairdi in the flesh, but his breeders looked pretty damn nice. The only info he had on his bairdi were that they were from "northern Mexican" stock. Anyhow, I did have 15 bucks left in my pocket, so I picked out a healthy looking one out of the bunch. Sometimes you simply pay your money and take your chances. By his third year, he was really starting to look sharp, and I started to look around for a worthy mate for this guy. I do have a couple of 2 year old females that I picked up awhile back, but I'm still not sure if they will measure up. If anyone out there has or knows about an exceptional female that will be ready for their FIRST breeding next year, drop me a line and we will talk about a possible co-project. I believe exceptional bairdi can command some decent money, as they are truly a very showy snake. Any of you folks that have illuminated display cages can vouch for this. For you that use fluorescent lighting, give this a try............replace your regular bulb with one of those pinkish tint plant lights(gro-lux, gro&sho, etc). These lights really accentuate the complicated color schemes of these snakes. Bairdi are way too cool to be relegated to plastic boxes. Spend the money and set up a nice display cage for these guys.........You won't regret it!...............BAIRDI RULE!!!

If you use "regular" light bulbs, spend a little more and get the GE Reveal light bulbs. They do an excellent job of creating a more realistic light.
