Flewatt surface temps

jonf Aug 03, 2005 10:18 PM

What is the correct surface temp that flewatt should be ran at. I believe I read somewhere that is was 95 deg. The reason that I ask is that I have 4 feet in an incubator hooked to a helix and the surface temps are aound 110. The temps in the incubator are right on the money though. Is this unsafe? Should I add some more flexwatt to bring the surface temps down?

The Bean Farm lists 95 degrees. I would bet this is for the sake of the animals in a cage heated with Flexwatt moreso than for the Flexwatt itself.

A good way to help with the surface temps of the Flexwatt is to use a piece of extruded aluminum taped to the Flexwatt. The heater heats the aluminum which heats the air, but helps keep the Flexwatt temps a little lower. You can get the aluminum at Home Depot. I don't know if that is possible in your incubator design.

Flexwatt is meant to be attached to a mass and conduct heat.
