Could someone please help...i have a shedding question

orpheus Aug 04, 2005 09:19 AM

I have a ball python and he is only 5 months old. He is shedding for the first time since i got him and he has been for over a week. Also he is shedding in pieces and i know that isn't good. I have tried a couple of things but i am starting to worry because he is only shedding his tail and not around his face and eyes. should i give it more time or should i take him to the vet or get some kind of shedding aid or what. Please help i don't want my baby to have a major skin problem. Please help my orpheus.

Thank you
Courtney

bad shedding usually indicates conditions are too dry. There are several things you can do, increase the humidity in the snake's cage, soak the snake in warm water (about 70F) for 10 minutes or so, you can also wrap the snake into a damp towel and put it over the heat source and let it be.
