misting dragons

mcnugent Aug 04, 2005 04:55 PM

when i mist my BD he goes nuts. Does that mean anything ? SHould i stop doing it? He sits there and lets it happen, but right when I'm done sprayiing him, he goes insane and rubs himself on everything and scratches, i think he hates the water being on him.
SHould i just keep doin it or wut else could i possibly do?

Man my brother's bearded dragon is 2 years old and he never mists it. The beardie hated it and would do the same thing so he hasn't misted it since he first got it. I also told him about a bath for a lizard, he looked at me and laughed when i told him people bathe theirs. His lizard is so passive he probably would let you bathe him though. I finally convinced him just to take his 2 year old sand out. He's had real good luck with his for some reason. So it's up to you to decide how much he hates being misted, cause stress is the worst for any reptile. Do you have a picture of him??

He's had the SAME sand for 2 years???! Did I read that correctly?

Stare at me with empty eyes and
Point your words at me
Mirror on the wall will show you
What you're scared to see
I can see, yeah, wish I couldn't see at all
I can feel- Wish I couldn't feel at all
Hate to see- Wish I couldn't see at all
Hate to feel- Wish I couldn't feel at all
So climb walls,
Thin my blood now
And I crawl, back to bed now

Yes he did. it's called laziness. Don't worry i strightened him out. His beardie is on shelf liner now, what gets me is how healthy his beardie seems for halfass care taking, some people can just be so lucky.

Hi,

Some dragons seem to like/dont' mind being misted and others seem to dislike it very much. If I feel an animal dislikes it I will not do it. Alternatively/additionally you can soak the animal to make sure it is adequately hydrated.

Of course cage conditions are important when considering hydration but I know that was not your question...

Good luck,

Ian
