Outdoor home not really home-like

maverickl Aug 04, 2005 05:16 PM

Hello. My family and I got an Iguana a few months ago, we kept him in a custom iguana cage for 6 months. my husband built a really cool outdoor habitat, Igor hasnt eaten so far as we can tell since sunday. how much time do we allow for him to get used to it?

How big is it?
Are there hiding spots?
Plenty of sun and shade for thermal regulation?
Is there a lot of noise (kids, dogs, traffic)?

It will take some time, a good 2-3 weeks to fully get familiar with it. Let it get adjusted at its own terms. Just keep a close eye and make sure its health will not deteriorate. keep offering fresh food (fruits I've been told grow an appetite with their sweet scent and taste).

Let us know.

The habitat is 6' high and 8' x 8'. we have shade, a pool, which he loves, and ampel sunlight. temperature is around 95 - 98. he seems to enjoy the space we are just worried that we did something wrong. thanks for the advice, we'll keep you posted.
