I just use about 4 sheets of paper towel in a ziplock container with a small hole (just big enough for them to get in). It works great for me. It's clean and the moisture usually lasts 1-2 weeks before I replace everything. It's also easily hidden in my set-up. Here is a picture, it's been a long time since I've posted it.

Lisa - nice set up!

I use sphagnum moss over a vermiculite base. The damp vermiculite keeps the moss moist longer.

i use crushed cocoanut husk on the bottom and moss on top in a butter tub, she hangs out in it most of the day....
P.S. ive recut the hole and turn it over holds the substrate and moisture better...

i use spagmum pete moss and she loves it! the only thing is i recomind putting the hole in the top or she will dig it out.

I use eco-earth or bed-a-beast in the adult humid hides and I use paper towels in the hatchling/juvinile humid hides....

Peat moss and spagnum moss are two different things.... Peat moss is more like a dirt made of decomposed moss and other plant material and spagnum is that stringy type moss you buy in the pet stores.... I suggest not using spagnum because it molds up pretty fast..... Peat moss will work well for sub adults to adults....

Actually there is a sphagnum "peat moss", this is the moss I also use. I had tried the regular sphagnum and didn't care for it.

i love that tank set up on the second post what size tank is that and how did u make that platform. also where did you get your decorations. i love that set up and willtry to make mine like that.

lisa_cristin Aug 05, 2005 05:13 PM

Thank you. The tank is 33 gallons and the platform is a 15 pound piece of slate (I wouldn't reccommend it though, it's pretty hard to deal with and it makes me nervous with my little guys). Most of the decorations are just from pet stores. The red rock thing is for fish tanks and the wood it just drift wood from the pet store as well. The plant is an air plant, I've had it for over a year now and it still looks good (although if you feed crickets it's not a good idea). The background is a very popular background found at most pet stores.

Good luck, here is a picture of my other set up. It's not as natural looking.

how are you with the magnetic rock? i used to have one and my cousin was looking and my leo and when he put it back on it squished her tip of her tail and it fell off. i have benn afraid to use them since.

lisa_cristin Aug 06, 2005 12:29 PM

I have it proped up underneath a little bit, which makes it totally level with the glass. I am still very careful whenever I take it off and always tell others to do the same. I did hear of someone loosing their baby snake to one though. Someone took of the magnet and the whole thing feel over and crushed the little guy. I think hagen really needs to do a little more work on them, I can thing of a number of things I would change.
