Can anyone recomend a good steam cleaner for cages.....

BobS Aug 04, 2005 05:48 PM

you guys are the kings of cage cleaning. Any recomendations? I just bought one of those "SCUNCI" steam cleaners at Target and it only measured 106.3 as it exited the nozzle after warm up. ( not going to kill any bateria with that temp)Thanks. Bob.

Bob,

I use to steam clean my cages. Now I use Chlorhexidine diluted.

Steam cleaning inside was a pain for me due to the size of my cages and mess. Moving them outside is even more of a pain. Once a year I take them outside and use bleach (dilute) and let the sun dry them.

Daily cleaning I change the papers, spray with Chlorhexidine and let it dry. Oh! And wipe the walls down from my fecal artist’s.

How are your snakes doing? I am now down to my 6 Dry’s and two Kings. I do miss the Blacks.

Your Black milks are doing GREAT! Blackie is some awsome animal. He reminds me of a rainbow boa. He's a monster.Got rid of quite a few of my animals after getting your Blacks. Narrowing my focus to just the blacks now and taking a break.

After I'm done with this break, thought I might try a few Unicolors. That solid Gold/Bronze color is beautiful But the blue/black of the Easterns and the Black milks float my boat.( Can't have Eastern here)Oh well...Thanks. Stay well, (You've got cages to clean)lol.Bob

Hello Bob,

As I mentioned before, I spray my enclosures with 2% Chlorhexidine solution diluted with water, allow that to sit for a couple of minutes, then give the surface a quick staem cleaning. I use a Reliable Model T730, which has a boiler temperature of 320*F which produces an average temperature of 220*F at the tip.
There are several models out there capable of such temps, just look for one with the highest boiler temperature.

Best regards,

Jeff
