ok now you got me wondering, dont take it that i am being a "know it all" or a smart alec, im asking in order to learn. you said a crimson was a hypo miami........... i have a miami phase the red is really bright after his sheds........ is that where the crimson red comes from?

traci Aug 05, 2005 08:01 AM

if you take your pretty Miami and minus any black around the saddles, that should give you an idea of what a Crimson looks like. Although some Crimsons can develop an orangey / tan background just like some Miamis can...there is still usually much contrast between the saddles and the background color.

raisnok Aug 05, 2005 07:34 PM

i think hes pretty

jyohe Aug 05, 2005 04:33 PM

yea...that's a nice miami...and if it was hypo it would have little or no black on it.and still have greyish background and red saddles......

cool......

I had crimsons that were really light with no black at all........sweet..........(serpen-co stock).....

funny im a beginner snake keeper, just knew basic care when i went out and bought him, im still learning.....
but so far from most i did good picking out my snake, and to think i picked him out because he was "calm" compared to the other snakes i had looked at, and i thought i bought a common corn, the red and orange ones...... it was only after i realized he was a miami. my other common corn has turned out to be pretty also so far, i just cant wait for them to grow...LOL

I'm seeing that an awful lot lately! Heck I began researching corn snakes in 2001 and I'm still sometimes hesitant to give advice/answer questions. Could be a lack of self confidence on my part though.

See you tomorrow maybe?? i'm gonna be a vendor for the very first time! I'm so nervous I feel like I could throw up!

you got a table....cool..........but I won't be able to talk much at all..........tables are cool.....oops.I mean tables are so hot...and sweaty...and hotter yet again....

I hate shows with no air conditioning.....

you'd think they wuld find a better building!!!!!!!! hint hint ......

........what will I do without selling you some more un-needed cornsnakes????

and I got them priced so low this year........($10 and up).....and yes...some are morphs at this............sad........

..........good luck......sell out early then buy from me to resell......?...works for me........

if I run/ walk by you -holler' at me if I miss seeing you.......

and keep in mind it's my birthday too!! so if you have any corns you'd like to give me as a gift well that would just be swell! hahahaha. Seriously though, you know I can't stay away from your table. It's always SO tempting! But my husband will be there too helping me w/ my table, and I'm sure he does NOT want to see me buying anything. I'm already getting two adults while I'm there.

Curious, do any of the vendors check out each other's stuff before the show starts? Just wondering.

I'm not looking forward to being hot and sweaty. Blah!

I was also under the impression that a crimson was a hypo miami and yes this lack of, or reduction in, black makes the red even brighter.
Now that brings us back to the snake in question.
I would have to say no it is not a crimson. At least not like any crimsons I have seen.
Sorry.

a bright normal. Of course, seeing as it is in blue phase, I supose it could also be a Hypo A, but I think I lean more towards Okeetee-ish.

A Crimson is a Hypo Miami and has a fairly clean body like a Miami does. The body should not be heavily diffused with orange/red body color.

Again, it is another very good looking snake. But it does seem like you have gotten some mis-information from the people you have purchased from. You did get some nice looking animals but I hope things go better with your next purchases as far as accuracy.

Here is a picture of a young Crimson, you can see how clean the body is.

Who do you buy your snakes from? While you have beautiful snakes, it sounds like your breeder is attaching a higher end morph name onto their animals to drive up the price. Not very professional, or perhaps they are misinformed as well.
