Hey all,
Can anyone with some experience attending past NY Metro Reptile Expos comment on the chances of finding some nice BCI or BCC at the show, particularly locality animals (Hogs, etc.)?
Thanks in advance!

It varies from time to time. NERD may have some guyana, they have lots and always attends. Last time they had some hoggs, I have been other times that not a single hog. Don't think i have seen many bcc. Others may have more experience, I haven't really looked besides the time I wanted a hogg and couldn't find a single one.

I have been going to this show for the past three or four years and sometimes it is good and sometimes not so good. A good example of this is the last show (I think it was in April) there was a total of about 4 or 5 Hogs, none of which were younger than yearlings (only one yearling, the rest were adults). I went to one show in 2002 and there were alot of baby Hogs there. I think this has to do with when the breeders are producing them, but I may be wrong.
At the April show I saw some really nice BCC (Suriname & Guyanas). I guess it is really just hit or miss, you know? The show has definitely grown in both size and popularity since I first went. I stood in line to get in for about 45 minutes!
Well, good luck to you and hopefully you find what your looking for!

I've been to several NY Reptile Expos and as stated before, it's really a hit or miss event.
So far this year, I thought the Jan. show was the best. It was smaller, but the array of boas (BCC and BCI) was much better than the April show. I thought the April show was kind of boring. I hoping this coming show will have a lot more babies to pick from...
Actually, one thing that I noticed is that vendors seem to up the price a little...it seems the kingsnake classified has more competitive prices...just a little observation....

I agree with you, the April show was kind of boring. There really wasn't all that great of a boa selection. Hopefully, this weekends will be much better.
I noticed that the prices were a little higher than in past shows too. Very strange. You would think that since the show has increased in size (both vendors and consumers) the competing prices would go down.
See you at the show!
