I got my first Darts today...

Derek Benson Jul 16, 2003 06:05 PM

Hey,

Today, I got my first darts after delayed shipping and I had to go get them at the post office. I got 0.0.3 'green banded' Phyllobates aurotaenia from Rafael at Cyberaqua-net. I bought monkey frogs form him earlier this year and he packed thm wrong and they froze, so he owed me frogs. Won't buy from him again. Anyways, they are very cool and have already eaten some dusted fruit flies. They have very vibrant colors, but were a little skinny. I have thme in a rubbermaid with pothos and soon cork bbark, while I let their tank grow. I will put the frogs in once the get bigger. They are a little bigger than .25" Just thought I'd share.

That's a good species to start out with and mine seem to breed quite often. Good luck!

Congratulations! Termites are a great way to fatten up skinny frogs in a hurry. I got some cobalt tincs from a person that regularly advertises on kingsnake and they looked pitiful when I got them, but after a few dozen termites they began filling out and becoming more active.

I have four (1.0.3) green aurotaenia and I love them. Mine are very bold and their call is almost as cool as the leucs. I got mine from Thomas Villegas down in San Diego and from Quality Exotics. Hope you enjoy them, they are definitely a good choice.
