Blacktail Cribos

ok i read the article in Reptiles about these huge colubrids and it leaves me wanting one. how do i pronounce Cribo in the first place? and does anyone on here own one? which forum would these be under.

I don't know the pronunciation, and I don't own one, but I read almost every forum on Kingsnake.com, and I know they discuss them a lot on the indigo forum.

It makes sense that they would be discussed on the Indigo Forum since the genus Drymarchon is shared by indigoes & cribos.

Actually, I think you raise quite a good point. I have long thought that Reptiles magazine (as one example) should include the phonetic pronunciation of animal names at the beginning of each article.

I take the time to learn the latin names because I think they are both important and meaningful, but don't ask me to pronounce some of them in a million years, like "Aeluroscalabotes felinus"??

And for the record, I thought it was pronounced "krib-o".

The reason for the pronunciation is that the name "cribo" is Spanish, the spoken language throughout the range of the snake.
In Spanish, the letter "i" is pronounced "ee".
