question about handling new corn

burningwings Aug 04, 2005 09:52 PM

I bought a corn snake at a reptile show last weekend. She seems to be adjusting to her new tank well, but doesn't like being handled. As soon as I go to pick her up she rattles her tail. She has struck at me and bit a couple of times. My other snake, a king snake, was so laid back when I first got him. I am not used to this. It is not that I am worried about getting bit. I can barely feel it.I just hate knowing that I am stressing her out. Right now I am trying to hold her a few minutes at a time. I am just wondering how others go about taming theirs.

Her are a couple of pics.I was told she is a sunglow but I am not sure she is.I just liked her vivid colors.

Just keep handling her as you have been, she will get used to it and then be fine. Also, looks more like an amel to me....Too much white to be a sunglow!

one thing you can do is to set up a branch in your home (outside the viv)
take the snake out once a day and let it rest on the branch and take in all the smells and vibrations going on
after a few days of this they will chill with you when you take them out
