It's a boy!.......

RioBravoReptiles Aug 05, 2005 07:37 AM

... and a girl, and another girl and a (you get the idea)..

My favourite Argentine girl (snake-type-girl) has come through again.. a monstrous, perfect litter! These babies are already several hours old.. she sneaked them out early this morning (3:00AM?).. Every time I would see her making a contraction late yesterday (me with camera in hand) she'd stop and I'd swear give me a look "I'm not doing anything"..

She makes a nest in the aspen each time and then mounds it up to sort of corral the babies and hold in the juice.. it might take them more than a whole day to start crawling.. They all look great.

almost everything you pop out is pretty damn sweet. I love the pattern on Argentines. Perfect circlebacks and ususally amazing laddertails. It is much easier to see on babies than adults. Congrats again.

Those are really going to be nice Gus, Congrats and hope mom is doing fine! Love the Pink ones!

RioBravoReptiles Aug 05, 2005 10:16 AM

... Hey thanks.. mom came out of the cage right now without any real fuss.. probably to get me! But then when I started to pick her up she relaxed and let me place her in a big temporary tub.

I don't take the babies away until they start to crawl, and a big mom can get protective and possibly do some harm if she's set up where you can't give her total privacy. Anyway, I'll let her soak for a while, that relaxes them and removes the smell of the newborns (I'm guessing).. after that they almost always become clam again.

Thanks!

...posting pictures of the parents? I would like to see how your animals look when they are older. Also, is there a reason you don't have an Argentine page on your website?

RioBravoReptiles Aug 05, 2005 07:54 PM

Yes I would!

I don't do any real marketing here.. if you need more info on my litters please E-mail me personally...

Anyway I have posted the images here before and those adults are in my Kingsnake.com albums as well as in my website.. which, despite your info.. has the best Argentine boa page anywhere..

Here's a link below.....
(And wow! I had a post deleted!, I'm proud.. but I still don't know what I did?!)

I will be checking your photo-gallery as well.

Thanks for the information.

Thanks for sharing the Argies and congrats. Maybe next year i'll be as fortunate although a little luck couldn't hurt. Not enough Argies being posted on this forum as i would like, such a beautiful boa and their cryptic patterning and contrasting colors are so unique in the bc world. They seem to me to be an underrated boa. Do you by chance have any pics of a "high contrast" Argie. My male is very contrasty and i was wondering how "oreo" compares with other High contrast BCOs. Thanks, Clint
