turtle egg fertility

wayne13114 Aug 05, 2005 08:10 AM

I have a few turtle eggs in my incubator temps are right around 83-85 and humidity is 90%. I have been having turtles hatch the past week straight. painteds, and spotteds, I was wondering what an infertile egg looks like. I have a few that are pinkish in color and fairly hard. I just wanted to know if I should leave them alone or toss em out thanks for the replies in advance

Hey Wayne ~ I've had turtle eggs take on a pink appearance when they were no good. When you open the egg, the mass inside is solid and it too has a pinkish hue. Sometimes the eggs are yellowish too if they are not viable ~ I would just wait anywyas, it would be a shame if you opened the egg only to find it was developing. Just as long as its not touching any of the other eggs (which usually doesn't even matter) they won't contaminate them. You haven't candled any of them?
