Totally sweet. Sometimes, very rare, you will get a little display and hiss around shedding time when they can't see very well. I have always been able to pick them up without any hint of biting, even when blue.

Of course, irritability varies from snake to snake. That said, I've found cape gophers to be to most irritable of all of the pits I've encountered.

Mine tend to run the range from calm to fairly ill. My males are much quicker to hiss an occaisonally strike. My females are usually calm as long as you go ahead and pick them up when uncovered. I think my males would even be fairly calm but I usually only handle my snakes when cleaning their cage due to numbers. This girl is my most laid back female but as I opened her drawer to show her to a friend the other day she bit me for the first time and she is 3. Go figure? Randy W.

Thanks guys! Let's see, that's one "totally sweet", one "most irritable of all Pits", and one "runs the gamut"...hmmmmm...I guess I'll just have to "pays my money and takes my chances"...And picutres like that are, obviously, why I want one...just gorgeous...thanks again...

I have a pair to prove it. The male is a cupcake, and the female is a demon.
Someday I'll get off my duff and post some pictures of them.
