I am in and out of the snake loop. Can someone let me know why Nicaruagan's and Hypo Nics. are so popular all of a sudden? Are Nics. smaller than other BCI or something?

Nics are sweet snakes they are all diffrent, there are just so many colors to work with. To anwser your ??? yes they are smaller and they breed smaller. I saw a 3 1/2 foot female give birth to a perfect litter of 8 babies no slugs. They are very hardy and easier to breed then many other boas. Plus there are many new color morphs that are very excited including the T ... I think the T Sunglow is going to be a beautiful animal and I am very excited to see one... Here is a pic of two Pos. dominate Hypo Nics I owned.
They are a lot of fun to work with and I recomend owning one or 20 =}...

No Comment on the morph side of your question......
BUT (from the imported side)
If people actually knew what the mass volume these Nics are imported*YEARLY*(not to mention bred in the USA) they wouldnt be paying the huge mark up many re-sellers are getting for them.
Either way ,their all $10 snakes when the crates are popped !

The volume is pretty good but nothing close to what it was years past. I know someone who bought the whole quota from a local importer...the biggest importer of Nic's in Florida. He was suppose to get 5000 animals and he is maxed out now at 1500 - 2000. Shipments have been delayed and there aren't that many coming in now. $10.00 is a low figure on what they cost. This guy is paying at least twice that and the lowest I have heard of from anyone was $17.00 in a 1000 lot and he doesn't have any.
The hypos, anerys, ghosts, striped, reverse striped, hypers, and T animals will always be worth good money because of the difference between them and normals lookswise, the rarity of them, and what the combos can produce.
I think if they are all $10.00 snakes, then all ball pythons that are anything from a striped to a leucistic animal must be worth $4.50.
Just my opinion....
Some credit granted to your post FWIW .... from the folks that arent concerned in anyway about the future of Morphs.... "No Comment" LOL!!!FWIW again..... the reason the entire quota was purchased by one source is because the other "sources" have chosen to "invest wisely" else where and reported "NO INTEREST".
You think the "farms" havent caught wind of the Nic Morph nitch ?
There is no shortage of marketable stock.
As for the $17US ..... hmmmm guess they went up a buck this last shipment ?
LOL!.... sorry I dont drop names, but the $10 snake was a "source" quoted comment.

There are quite a few nicaraguan boas imported. Far fewer than have been in the past. But to say such a bold statement "...$10 a snake" is ludicrous. This is obviously a person that has no idea what he/she is talking about. In short, they are wrong. Sure some of them are high priced, but if people are willing to pay that then that pretty much determines their worth. Simple economics. It is the same thing with the new influx with the panamanian boas. Many want them and few are available. It is simple economics.... Will the prices stay high? No they will reach an equilibrium price where the demand equals the supply. And I imagine that as soon as the rest of the community realizes the unique variability of Nicaraguan/Central American boas they will begin to be priced slightly higher than colombian boas in many cases. There is so very much that we do not know about the genetics of these mini boas. SOrry about the rant.
Here are some older pics of my nicaraguans.
And, unfortunately none of them were bought for $10......lol

Thanks
Bob
Oh they "very much" know what their talking about !! The $10 shot was about drippy no doubt LOL!!
The entire Nic issue with them as well as others has that "Knock Your Self Out" flavor about it.I do in fact trust their judgement as well advise and overall agree to let the wave play out.Its a BCI and regaurdless of the outcome(s)it will eventually stall out just like the current BCI fodder......

One thing about your inclusion of the Panamanians. I happen to have four, and the C.I.T.E.S. say 60 came in. I was given a slightly lower number by a very respected locality breeder. Not to mention, Panama is very clear in allowing export only once every 10 years. So until this years imports reach maturity there will be very limited number available to fullfill the high demand.
panamanian boas. I have a beautiful pair from Kevin at ectothermics and I received a really nice hypo female from Jon at Next World Exotics. I think that the panamanians are going to be a fun project for sure. But I still must say that the Nicaraguans are still going to be strong, although mostly the morphs that are available. Not to mention any new things that could come out. Which I also must add is a great possibility.
Thanks
Bob
While there is an importance to keep locale bloodlines pure, there is an exception in the morph end of things. I think that people are going to continue to cross locales of C.A. BCI to create new morphs. Breeding a Leopard to a Blood for instance (Sonoran X El Salvador). For this reason Nicaraguans will hold strong because they have two strong recessive mutations; the Type II Anery, and T positive Albino. Not to mention the Hypos, but I think more people are going to use Jeff Gee's Hypos since they are C.A. but have allready been refined.
Hey Chris,
The figure of 60 included 3 Sabogae animals so technically 57 Panama and 3 Panamanian Sabogae animals came in. The Panamanian animals are very cool and the hypos lighten almost weekly.
Hey Bob,
Glad to see you snagged one and I hope it does well for you! There is a new 'Morph' nic out....1.2 of them. E-mail me and I will get you pics. They are all identical and awesome markings, that is the ones you can see anyway.
People would love to have baby Nics available here in florida but there juast aren't any available. At $10.00 you should have bought all you could because I know for a fact that the importer of them here would gladly pay $16.00 for them to make a buck each in a quick turn around.
I think the dwarf market is strong, very strong, and it should continue to do well as more people turn to a smaller boa to keep.
