I have an adult male that prefers to burrow under a few sheets of newspaper.

For racks, I think it depends on your preference!

With mine, I make sure to put the side shelfs of my adult racks at least half way... makes it so that half of the rack is always pretty dark, so it's a hide spot in itself!

Some of my girls I think really like a certain hide spot, which I put into the rack with them.

Also, I have all my ball pythons on white towels, and a few use this to go under and it's a hide as well.

I think either way (hides or not) are both fine!

so I use plastic kitty litter pans for my larger females. You can find them in any pet store. Pick a size that works for you, flip it upside down, cut a hole in the side and you have a decent hidebox.

Another tip, for litter pans/plastics.... try a dollar store! They have always carried the same kind of product but don't charge the $5-6 each!

For my large females I use Van Ness Plastic cat litter pans turned upside down and cut a hole on the side.
Depending on your tub size you can use CP0 or CP1.
