Here is the Whole clutch of 2005 NJ Eastern Kings

Keith Hillson Aug 05, 2005 06:07 PM

I ended up with all 7 eggs hatching with a ration of 3.4 Some of the babies have real high crossbar counts of like 45+ .This female was a firsttime breeder with my super old male. I was going to retire him but I think I will give him one more year.

Keith,
They are absolutely incredible. Are you going to use the big Monmouth male on the same female next year or do you have some more NJ's to use?

Dan

Thanks Dan

Im actually thinking of using my 2003 male on his mom next year. I will then use the Old Monmouth on the 2002 female again. Here is the possible connectio next season.

2003 Monmouth Co. X Burlington Co. (son to below female)

Here is his Mom. She is a Burlington Co. and is the cleanest whitest Eastern King Ive ever seen. Her above son is just like her bright white and black.

nice group...
what is published/accepted as a normal range (high and low) for crossbars within the subspecies? is 45 high? you don't have to reference markel if you don't want to...
jmo, but if the old man can still use it, i say let him use it. how'd you like to be 75 and have the nursing home supervisor cut you off from all the hot babes on your floor? lol, keep his life good.

Seems the higher north ya go the higher the crossbar count. Then of course there is variation in there as well. Even within this clutch not all of em had high crossbar counts.

How old is that male? I am interested to know how old these things can get to be.

Keith Hillson Aug 05, 2005 06:54 PM

Im not sure of his exact age. I was told when I got him 3 years ago he was over 15 years of age.

What an impressive animal! Eighteen years old is something too but I do think they can live a good bit longer. Right?
